Wireless doorbell

For some reason the builders of this house decided the chime for the doorbell should
be mounted in the entranceway facing the front door - about three feet from the door.
This meant that folks pushing the doorbell could probably hear the chime just fine,
but those in the family room couldn't hear squat (unless you are a dog).

I just installed one of these: http://tinyurl.com/gwobthk

The receiver is mounted about 40' from the front door, and works like a champ. Now I
just have to remember a new battery every 6-8 months or so. (The seller says 'a
year').

That is a good reason to have one. Mr Ed is my doorbell and a lot of
the riff raff just backs away quietly. ;-)

If my dog would bark once or twice, I could live with it. Mine goes bat**** crazy,
running all around the house barking her fool head off. You'd think she was going to
rip off arms and legs, but I think she's just excited about someone new petting her.

This new doorbell seems to have her cowed. If she's next to it when it goes off she
backs away.
