The militant group Al-Shabaab -- Al Qaeda's affiliate in Somalia -- has released a recruitment video featuring GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. The more-than 51-minute propaganda video comes on the heels of a war of words between Trump and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton over her suggestion that the real estate mogul's controversial remarks about Muslims would be used to recruit jihadis. --- Trump...without question the biggest asshole in the 2016 election race. |

Hillary still holds a lead over Trump but the gap has narrowed significantly compared to a month or two ago. A Cruz versus Clinton matchup is currently a tie. Hillary still holds a lead over Trump but the gap has narrowed significantly compared to a month or two ago. A Cruz versus Clinton matchup is currently a tie. Rubio actually holds a slight lead over Clinton. Even Carson polls well against her. Might be closer than you thought a while back. I don't think so. I think what popularity Rubio has is based on the fact that he's neither Trump nor Cruz. He really seems to be an empty suit and a lousy campaigner. Cruz is a nutcase. There are hundreds of videos of him demonstrating that. They'll get a lot of play. Plus, he is overzealously a religious fundie, and that is not going to work in a general election. Carson is on the way out. So, in other words, the pollsters have it all wrong, eh? There is a strong anti-Hillary sentiment that exists in the country that is not exclusive to Republicans. Many Democrats consider her to be untrustworthy and dishonest but most, like you, will vote the party line rather than for a Republican. I understand that. But, there is a widening range of Independents who will most likely determine who the next POTUS is. Whatever Mrs. Clinton's shortcomings, real or imagined, there's no question she would be a better POTUS than any of the Repubs who might survive the early caucuses and primaries, such as Trump, Cruz, or Rubio. === That may very well be true but it speaks more to the sad state of affairs with the Republican party than it does to Ms. Clinton's qualifications. |

Barney Frank had much to do with this. Clinton rewrote the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods. The balloon that was about to burst wasn't obvious until about 2006 when some financial and mortgage experts began to warn of a crash. Until then, housing prices were going up by 15, 20 percent or more. Don't you remember all the house "flippers" that were operating then? |

You can take a look at "the big short" but more personally, I know that the guys who ran Centex (builders) knew this was hokey in 2004 and they were not building spec houses (AKA "inventory") even then. The customer needed to have a contract with at least $50k down before they started building, in spite of the fact that houses were sold in a lottery at the time. They also avoided "investors" as much as possible. (only one home per customer was the goal) The owners (Hannigan and Ellers) sold the business right before it crashed. I sold my stock when that happened at a pretty nice profit. |
