If you burn a whole tank every time you go out, never mind but we
usually get 2 or 3 trips on a fillup.
I came up with this to remind me to put some gas in before I get ready
to go. It is better than figuring out I am low after we are all on
board and I start the motor.
I hang this on the lift switch when I am putting the boat away if I
know I am low coming in.
I will see this before I get on the dock. Then I can get a can of gas
and put it in while the lift is going down.

I'll have to take a photo of my RV checklist.

I don't really have much of a checklist for the boat.
We take a cooler, dog water and a trash can.
Leaving the boat is gathering up those 3 plus whatever else we picked
up. (usually just trash)
Gas is the wild card. It is not an "every trip" thing.
If we are just putting around, we may only burn a gallon or two.
I put 5 or 6 in at a time depending on which can I use.
When I notice that gas is coming up, I hang this on the dog water and
hang it on the lift switch when I am getting off. Works great.

RVs require something much, much more extensive:

Maybe why I don't have one. ;-)

My checklist

1. Got my Amex card?
2. Call the Marriott

When I was a kid my dad had a 51 Ford pickup truck with a broken gas
gauge. He didn't have a written checklist, but every time he drove the
truck he put $1 worth of gas in it. (the good old days)
One day he couldn't get the whole $1 in.

If you asked for a dollars worth of gas today the guy would just fart
in your window ... there you go!

I worked in a gas station my senior year of high school. Kids would come
in and pool their money to get 30-50 cents worth of gas. Enough for the
evening. 21-29 cents a gallon.

When I was in college I'd frequently double date with some friends of
ours. The other guy and I would each pitch in 50 cents for gas money.
That was good for 3 or 4 gallons, 50 or 60 miles with my old 1958 Ford
6 cylinder. That Ford was the least expensive car I've ever owned. I
bought it in the summer of 1965 for $260, drove it 20,000 miles, and
sold it a year later for $230.

We usually went for a dollars worth of Scot gas to fill up pop's car.
He never paid any attention to the odometer but he did notice the gas
gauge.
My buddy's dad did monitor the odometer so we just disconnected it
when we got to where we were supposed to be going and hooked it back
up when we were about that far from home.
