Until fairly recently, where Harry lives was "the south" too but it

You really don't know what you are talking about.

PG County is *not* a combat zone? Where the hell have you been?

There are some parts of PG County that have serious problems, but most
of the county ain't that way. Hell, you're such a pee down your pants
leg old whitey racist, you won't even go to DC. You must have been one
hell of a brave soldier.

If I didn't have a reason to go to DC, I wouldn't either...

It's a beautiful city with many first-rate museums, restaurants, and
parks. I can see why someone from ****ville, Illinois, wouldn't like it.

Maybe someone from there wouldn't. But I wouldn't know, I'm not from there.

But Harry, how you can be so far behind and think you're in front is beyond me.

I've been to DC several times. What I said was:

"If I didn't have a reason to go to DC, I wouldn't either... " Neither would you, well, maybe for some bazaar reason, you probably would.

Visiting DC is fine. Just don't drink the water.

Uh Huh

Where did you live in the 50s, 60s and 70s?
Did you really know anything about Calvert County before you moved
there? When was that?

That used to be "southern Maryland" when that meant something. Now it
is just a bedroom community for DC. You even brag about how good the
commuter service is.
In the 60s and even the 70s, that was just the farm land you drove
through when you were going to the beach.

Of course I still remember when Maryland was "the free state". I doubt
people hear that much anymore.

Gee really

It is the second worse county/city in Maryland, right behind Baltimore
city.
http://tinyurl.com/p5qdqvr

That includes just about every category of violent crime
In a couple of categories it is 3d.
When it is #3, it is behind Baltimore county and Baltimore city.
It is firmly in the #2 spot most of the time tho.
If you took out PG and Baltimore, Maryland starts looking like
Vermont.

The bride and I rode through DC on Rte 1 one night around 9 PM. It kind
of creeped us out. Might be because I am not comfortable in big cities.

Calvert County must still be a little backward. Residents still have to
cart their own garbage to the dump and have a standby generator to
ensure their CPAP machines will keep them alive overnight.

Calvert County, MD public schools have a diversity score of 0.37, which
is lower than the Maryland average of 0.84.

The last two years I was in the Navy I was stationed in Annapolis. We
went to DC regularly, often to entertain house guests and/or relatives
who had never been there. This was in 1975-1977. Never felt unsafe
although there were sections of the city surrounding the Capital area
that were "rough". Haven't been back since other than some business
trips to the Pentagon and one weekend for Rolling Thunder.

had never been there.
