A Bill to treat suppressor the same as long guns.
It was read into the house and sent to ways and means.
Feel lucky?
If it passes and is signed into law, it'll be nice...if it does away
with the $200 stamp and the three to four month wait. I suspect it would
also result in significantly lower suppressor prices. Local dealers tend
to try to charge full boat for the devices, and if you order from an
on-line discounter, the local FFL fee eats up most of the savings.
While I was waiting for my approval, I spoke several times on the phone
with the folks who approved the applications, and they reported they
were "buried" in paperwork and had only a few folks processing them.
As I mentioned more than once here, I have a SilencerCo "Sparrow"
suppressor for my .22LR rifle and pistol. It makes the rifle, a bolt
action, sound like a BB gun. The sounds from the bullets on the pistol
are also muffled, but the pistol action -it's a semi-auto- makes it
sound like an office electric staple gun.
