So I was looking through the Facebook classifieds and found a cool old 1969 Mohowk 16 ft, v-hull with an 85 hp Mercury " tower of power"

It'd been on there for a week with some tire kickers and hagglers floating around. From the guys pics it was a really good deal but catchy.
I got ahold of the owner and asked some questions. It was last ran 3 years ago and parked because of changing interests. So I said if it ran I'd take it, the next evening I went over and he had it on the muffs. It did start and shift fine but was sluggish due to old carb gum.
Honestly the boat and trailer were beau rifle. Tired a bit weather cracked but good enough for the 10 mi. tow .
It's at the local shop now getting the carbs cleaned and all new hoses. I could do that myself, but I don't have time. And I'm having them pull the bottom end for impeller and lube anyhow. It had a 12 gallon tank in it and I'm gonna add another.
This will be great to cruise the wabash river in the spring when the waters up. I want an outboard because sometimes the river has floating stuff in it like tree limbs and rotted logs from high water and at least the engine will tilt up if any things hit it. Mercruisers don't like that.
Anyhow this is gonna be fun.
Pics on Facebook if anyone cares to see it.
It truly is a very nice ,well maintained , little boat!

For $400 that's an amazing find. The trailer is worth that! A little
buffing and you'll have a great boat.

No, no, no. Tell him it's an ugly piece of **** so he'll want to sell it to me for
$450!

This is a nice sumple old boat and I don't want to "restore" it but the plexiglass windshield is gaily yellowed. Anyone know where to get a replacement. Probably be worth more than the boat. Lol!

Here's something that might work:

http://www.ehow.com/how_5877545_yellowed-plexiglas-clear-again.html

If that fails, you might try doing a small area with one of those kits
they sell for restoring plastic headlight covers. If all else fails,
a very fine polishing compound like 3M Finesse It might work.

It might buff out with a fleece wheel and very soft buffing compound.
There are custom lexan fabricators who can make just about anything
but it will be a significant part of the $400 you paid for the boat.

If it's curved you might be out of luck.
