Default My $400.00 beater boat

So I was looking through the Facebook classifieds and found a cool old 1969 Mohowk 16 ft, v-hull with an 85 hp Mercury " tower of power"

It'd been on there for a week with some tire kickers and hagglers floating around. From the guys pics it was a really good deal but catchy.
I got ahold of the owner and asked some questions. It was last ran 3 years ago and parked because of changing interests. So I said if it ran I'd take it, the next evening I went over and he had it on the muffs. It did start and shift fine but was sluggish due to old carb gum.
Honestly the boat and trailer were beau rifle. Tired a bit weather cracked but good enough for the 10 mi. tow .
It's at the local shop now getting the carbs cleaned and all new hoses. I could do that myself, but I don't have time. And I'm having them pull the bottom end for impeller and lube anyhow. It had a 12 gallon tank in it and I'm gonna add another.
This will be great to cruise the wabash river in the spring when the waters up. I want an outboard because sometimes the river has floating stuff in it like tree limbs and rotted logs from high water and at least the engine will tilt up if any things hit it. Mercruisers don't like that.
Anyhow this is gonna be fun.
Pics on Facebook if anyone cares to see it.
It truly is a very nice ,well maintained , little boat!

Here's some pictures!

It really pays having a zoom lens that'll reach from Virginia to Illinois!

Wow that was quick John. It's an interesting top color. Sort of a greenish gold. Actually it's kinda like the color of baby poop after its eaten peas. Lol!
But that's ok. It's going to go where fish poop anyhow. Glad fuel prices are low because it'll drink it.

No sweat. That boat looks like fun. Knowing how you operate, you'll probably find a
three year old, 75hp, Yamaha four-stroke with 25 hours on it for about $200!
