I decided to wax my 7 year old truck the other day for the first time
since I bought it. It's a metallic grey with a clear coat.

After carefully washing it (that took about 45 minutes), drying it off
with a chamois that took another half hour and then the wax on - wax off
by hand for well over an hour it makes you realize that a F-250 is a
large truck.

After it was done it really didn't look any different or better than
before I started. I think the paint and clear coat used on vehicles
now-a-days (even in 2008) are far superior than the paint of past years.

I like Ford trucks. This one should last me for a while longer. I've
had it since 2008 and it just turned 32K miles.

I'm thinking my 2500HD Silverado will last me 'til I die (or can't pass the driver's
vision test). It's a 2009, pushing 75000, but doing well.

Wow! You drive less than I do.
28 month old Toyota Highlander has 22000km.
My 2009 RAV 4 had 44000km when I traded it at 4 years.

Maybe he drives something else when not needing the truck. Whenever I don't need the
truck, I'll ride the motorcycle. Saves gas, reducing my carbon footprint, and is more
fun. The Guzzi should hit 70,000 miles this week or next. That'll be about 207,000
miles on two Moto Guzzis. No wonder I like them.

25% of those miles were attempts at backing your rotting aluminum boat
into the driveway. Deduct that and you certainly spend a lot of time
doing...nothing.

Must be Halifax waters. I saw some Legends, older ones, on my last trip to
BC. Still going. Not a great looking boat, but is a boat.

Recreational boaters, according to Don, are allowed to dump raw sewage into the
harbor. Maybe that's causing the rapid deterioration of his boat.

I have a "97" Toyota T-100 silver/grey, it has 90k miles on it.
Paint still looks great except for a few belt buckle scratches in
the clear coat.
My daughter knocked down a telephone pole with it. Luckily she hit
where the frame runs front to rear. I had to change the bumper and the
headlight ass'y, the grill piece was still good. Parts were less than
$500, the telephone pole about $4,000. The power company wanted $8,500,
for their work, I negotiated it down to $5,500 at $100 a month.
After a couple years, I offered a lump sum pay off and they took it.
Oh, the Toyota, I have had it 16 years, only problems I have had are a
couple of batteries and I had to replace the contacts in the starter
solenoid twice. I should probably order some, as I recall the cost is
about 1/5 over the internet than from my local Toyota dealer.

I can remember many years back that just about all the manufacturers had
problems with silver or light grey paint. It had something to do
with the unique pigments used and the paint wouldn't stick to the
primer. In short order it would start to peel.

Obviously that problem has been solved.
