But this year (mainly because I don't have a lot to do) I convinced her that I can do it. It gave me an excuse to buy a new John Deere riding mower and a Husqvarna self propelled push mower (for the tight spaces) for about what we were paying landscapers in 2-3 months. I found the secret of pruning and trimming also. Just cut all the bottom stuff off whatever the bush is so it looks like a small tree. |

I got the Husqvarna for about the same price at Lowes (on sale). Four wheel drive, 22 inch. We have several individual lawns, some very hilly. The four wheel drive is nice for where I can't use the rider. Almost went with a Husqvarna rider as well but I have a bit of brand loyalty. The bigger JD tractor has served us so well over the years, from earth moving, digging and snow removal that I felt sorta funny going with something else. |

Are you paying him? Of course. His company does a lot of work in Southern Maryland. His guys don't work for free. Then somebody better be looking at I-9s Not my job. Yet you are still here insisting that the guys in your yard are all legal. How do you know? I've got a "finish carpenter" handyman working in our half bath, installing a new vanity, wainscoting, toilet, and light fixture. He's not a Latino, but...how would I know if he is here legally? He might be a Canadian or a multi-lingual European, eh? Hell, he could be a Republican, and therefore someone determined to ruin 'Merica! :) I don't ask people if they are here legally. I do know the landscape contractor to whom I referred earlier in this thread is "legal," even though I have never asked to see his papers. As for his employees, I'm assuming they are legal, because their boss is very visible in the county and he's a smart fellow. I doubt he would risk his livelihood by hiring illegals. And, from what I recall, they are all blood relatives or in-laws. Determining the legality of workers is, as I stated, *not* my job. Romney thought that way also. Didn't help him much. But I don't drive around with my household pets in a cage strapped to the roof of my car No- you love feeding the skunks that live under your patio Your blood relation? |
