Techniques for retrieving stuck anchors

I just drive over it. I remember the direction it was set in, Say I
backed down south to set it. I just drive over it with a semi taught
line to keep it out of the wheel. I never have much trouble. On occasion
I foul an anchor in the large rocks at the lighthouse and send down a
second line with a grapple via snap ring to the main anchor line to aid
in freeing it, attaching the gapple it to the stern cleat and driving
gently around in circles to free it, varying tension. In 30 years I
might have lost two anchors.
