That's what I was talking about Wayne. "When the luck runs out" I look at it like this that if you're on a small craft, if you can't see the shore you don't need to be out that far. At least that's my thoughts...

At least that's my thoughts... === Being out of site of land is mostly a psychological thing but it is an indicator that you're out a ways. The highest number of on the water fatalities however is in canoes and kayaks - and they are almost always within sight of land. The most life threatening situation I've ever been in was only a quarter of a mile off shore when I capsized a sailing canoe in really cold water on Lake Ontario. You start to become paralyzed by the cold very quickly and I barely made it out. |
