Another 28 foot pontoon. Much nicer than what I had for about the same money. 140 hp Mercury 2 stroke.
Looks like it might make a good lake camper... |

I was think it'd be great around here for that same thing Wayne. Lakes and rivers is all we have. And the Wabash river can be fun but can be shallow for even an 18 ft runabout with I/O. Lots of room on the thing for the creature comforts too!
Just lookin.. |

Not that the craft isn't sturdy, but if a storm popped up with considerable wind and waves I'd think that might make the pilot think it wasn't that great of an idea.., === On the right day you can go out in just about anything but it's big water and things can change quickly. I'm always amazed at how many small, open boats we see fishing offshore. Those are the guys you end up reading about once in a while when their luck runs out. |

The risk is getting stuck and not being able to get off but there are some tricks to help with that. First trick is to run aground *slowly* and don't try to power your way through the shallow spot. :-) It's my understanding that Mr. Fretwell has left the group. Joined the Scientologists? ![]() |

That's what I was talking about Wayne. "When the luck runs out" I look at it like this that if you're on a small craft, if you can't see the shore you don't need to be out that far. At least that's my thoughts...

The highest number of on the water fatalities however is in canoes and kayaks - and they are almost always within sight of land. The most life threatening situation I've ever been in was only a quarter of a mile off shore when I capsized a sailing canoe in really cold water on Lake Ontario. You start to become paralyzed by the cold very quickly and I barely made it out. |
