OK I did look it up.

The .50 is capped at 36000 pounds of pressure and the 500 can go up to
60000. That means the muzzle energy can be at least 1000 ft/p greater.

It sounds more like a good caliber for a carbine than a handgun

They have bullets up over an ounce moving at over 1500 fps which puts
you in the 12ga slug category.



Quick followup shots are a bitch. Seriously. If a bear is after you and
you miss with the first shot, which is likely, you'll be joining Mr.

handle, and, really, not that much fun. The .500 S&W has to be about the
same or worse.

Define "quick". I am sure a guy who shoots one regularly could get
back down in far less than a second.

A guy who shoots one regularly probably wouldn't need to worry about 'quick followup
shots'.
