Default Changing transmission fluid

I have a 1987 Wellcraft St. Tropez with a Borg Warner V-Drive. How do I
change the transmission fluid? The manual shows removing the hose from the
bottom of the transmission. There is no way I can possibly get to that
fitting. Can I suck the oil out through the dipstick on the transmission
like I do when I change the engine oil?
