The new (old) Mosin Nagant will come so equipped, thank God.

Rather than spending a lot of money tricking out a Mosin, you might
consider getting a different gun entirely. There are some pretty good
223s around that are extremely accurate and more fun to shoot. The
jury is still out on mine but it's not exactly my favorite gun at this
point.

I like "old fashioned" style firearms, like lever action rifles and
revolvers, and I'd love to have a "cherry" Swedish Mauser. I've looked
at a few vids of those Mosins, and I just don't get their appeal, other
than the fact that they can be bought cheap. To my eye, they're too big,
ugly and, of course, heavy. But to each his own.

If I decide I need to "carry" again, I'll probably get one of the new
small Ruger revolvers, like one of the LCRs, instead of a semi-auto.

My grandfather (who immigrated from Sweden) was a sportsman and gun
collector. I remember as a kid that he had a shooting range set up
in the basement of his house in Quincy, MA for the handguns.

He had many handguns and rifles, including a Swedish Mauser. One day
he asked my older cousin and I to pick our favorite and he would give
it to us when we became old enough. I picked a German Luger that he
had.

But, it turns out he lived to a ripe old age and I never inherited the
Luger. My father had it and sold it. He had no interest in guns.

My brother has a very old double barreled shotgun that my grandfather
gave him. It was disabled so it could never be fired but I think it
dates back to the mid-1800's. He has it hanging over his fireplace.

Nope. And I didn't say I got it for the fun of it. Those are your
words.

No you said it was a "on a lark".

Yawn.

One more time. Some years ago, a poster in this newsgroup who was out
of control and apparently still is, made some direct and indirect
threats of violence towards me and to other posters here. In my case,
it was also hinted the violence would be perpetrated upon me by a
motorcycle gang member.

I took the threats seriously and contacted law enforcement in his area.
Two officers were dispatched to talk to the fellow. I reported all the
communications to the local and state police authorities here, who
also took them seriously. It was suggested I apply for a carry permit.
My lawyer said he could handle the application and other paperwork. I
said "Sure, go ahead." That's all there was to it. For me, the process
itself was a lark, since *I* really didn't have to do much and it gave
me a smile.

LOL, bull****. You falsified police reports and trolled to get a permit...

You forget a lot of things. Paying taxes aside, you called the police
to start trouble.

Wow!
You are either the world's greatest 'natural born liar' or simply 'bat **** crazy'.
I'm thinking ...both.

Don, if you *don't* think Harry did that to cause trouble, they you are the one who's
'bat **** crazy'.

Why don't you stop agitating and instigating for a bit?

This is highly amusing coming from you, Johnny.
It wasn't all that long ago you were crying like a school girl because someone supposedly called your house and used some foul language.
First you blamed it on Ohio Jim and after you and your posse tarred and feathered him, and ran him off, you next tried to pin the offence on Dickson.
Is your memory failing you like your eyesight and hearing?
L'il Snot claimed to be friends with a "full patch" biker and he threatened to send him to see Harry .
Do you think the South Windsor police are dumb enough to go visit Snottie without evidence?

Don, do you know what Christmas Geese are full of?

Guns don't cause problems. The behavior
of certain gun owners causes problems.

No tricking out involved. This is on its way (scroll down for pictures).

Nope, the Mosin is not the easiest gun to shoot, but that adds to the challenge of
hitting something with it.

The Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Gun is interesting though. Maybe next year.

I tried to buy a Damascus Twist double barrel shotgun about 50 years ago.
Lady bought a house and the shotgun was in the house. I would have loved
to have that as a display weapon. Would disable firing. As was most
likely a black powder weapon. But you could see the welding in the barrel
from the constuction.

Scotty's recollection of that "home visit" and the report I got from
the
police...differ... :)

Funny... the police around here don't "report" back with what
happens. A few years back we had to get the police involved in a
matter in which we were the victim and they refused, by policy, to
tell us the outcome.

Well, of course, your experience is *the* experience. :)

And your "experience" is another narcissistic lie.

RGrew176 February 3rd 15 02:55 AM

I don't know. My Mosin Nagant is a blast to shoot and when I want to shoot something different I shoot my Chinese SKS which is probably a bit more fun to shoot.
