Interesting that they would sell "match" ammo in a tumble fill box.

Those bullets banging together will take the "match" out pretty fast.

I have shot a lot of Federal Automatch and that's a good price. It's
decent, reliable plinking ammo but does not group all that well at 50
yards compared to something like Wolf Match Target which is what I
usually shoot in competition.

So "match" is just marketing hype, it is nothing to do with the
uniformity of the ammo like we would expect ... OK.
I agree, it is a reasonable price for .22 ammo these days.

'Dealing with WalMart'?

I go to the ammo counter, say hello to Juan, and he tells me if
they've gotten any .22 in - or 9mm or .45 in aluminum cases. The other
day they had both. The aluminum cased .45 was $14.75 a box of 50. Not
bad.

Once I've picked out what I want, I pay Juan, wish him a good day, and
I'm on my way.

'Dealing with WalMart' is actually a nice experience. Sometimes Dee, a
very nice Afro-American lady, is working the counter. She also knows
what I'm interested in, always has a nice smile, and is very pleasant

No, it was Remington 22 Golden Bullet, a great round for target or
rabbit shooting. It actually has a greater muzzle velocity and energy
than that Federal stuff. I noticed in the comments that one guy had
bought two boxes for $49 with shipping. That comes to about
7.5cents/round, which is still half again as pricey as the WalMart
stuff - and you don't get to deal with friendly people!

Walmart is always hit or miss around here. Sometimes they seem to have
some people willing to help you find things, other times it is just a
200,000 square foot scavenger hunt. The parking lot at the one near me
is a nightmare to get out of. The lot itself is poorly laid out and it
dumps into an intersection that was horrible before they built the
Home Depot and Walmart on 2 of the corners.
They are building another wally 2 miles from the house so I may give
them another chance.

When I go I'm usually on the Guzzi, so finding a parking space is no
problem.

As far as ammo goes, it's also hit or miss. Today they had a pile of
9mm aluminum cased for $9.97/50rds. Good price, but I don't need any.

Oh. So the product you offered up as a comparison was not the same
product, so therefore the comparison really isn't valid, is it?

Over the holidays, I bought some hundreds of Federal .223 ammo at .27 a
round, including shipping. Brass casing, FMJ, decent ammo. My neighbor
with the new Mini 14 bought the same ammo at Walmart for more than .40 a
round. I guess you could have bought the TULA steel ammo Walmart sells
for less, and claimed you got a better buy. Not the same as the Federal
ammo, but, hey, what the hell.

On one of the discussion boards I frequent, one devoted to high-cap semi
auto rifles in .22LR, Remington ammo is referred to as "Thunderduds" for
these rifles because of many FTFs. Oh, and sometimes the bullets fall
out of the casings. Really. But ammo is ammo, right?

IMO ammo is ammo as far as .22 goes. I've shot all major brands and haven't experienced any more duds from one to the other. I have several brands of .303 but Iainly shoot surplus. The Greek made in 1947 shoots about as accurate as anything...

Probably because the bullets are steel, even if they are coated.
Can't use that stuff at a local indoor range here, either.

Why not?

They don't allow bullets with steel therein. Sparks. That's their
story, and they're sticking to it.

As far as I know the only 22 short only rifles were gallery models
made to shoot those frangible bullets. They had a very light recoil
spring.
I would think a regular short would bang them pretty hard too.

Greg, you could get them either way and as this pic says it's stamped on the barrel. And listed as 'standard' or 'high speed'

I think the short only model was aimed at the gallery market.

could be Greg, on that one listing site provided, the gallery model had some kind of a deflector, this doesn't. It has the 'sporting' sights (not peep) and has a 4x Weaver scope mounted on it. so....

Where did you get that? None of the sites I know of have that kind of ammo for that price, even without shipping added.

Guess we're not going to get the source of that "too good to be true" ammo deal.

Another harry-tail.

Imagine the numbers if we could somehow add up all of the lies harry has
told here over the years? That would be a huge number.

Some weeks ago, I stated I didn't bother reading a lot of the posts that
appear here, and even within the subset of posts I do read, that I
skipped most of the posts of those who still engaged in personal insults.

Have a happy and healthy new year.

But in that period of time, I've not posted a single insult directed at you or anyone else. I simply asked where you found such a good deal, as I've been looking for .223 ammo for a while and haven't found that good of a price anywhere for decent brass-cased, boxer-primed ammo.

The fact that you did see this post indicates that you very likely saw the others and chose not to answer. I'd think that in the new spirit of this NG, it would be a simple matter to share that info. I guess not everything has changed.

I hope your new year is a good one as well.

I don't think 34567.. did much more than ask where you found the ammo
you mentioned - at least once. Maybe you could just tell us.

Might have been cabelas...but it expired. There's wolf gold out there for
27 or 28 cents...brass and non steel bullets...as good as the 55 grain
federal. Not Russian wolf.

THAT'S funny! The reality is you choose to not respond to these
truthful posts - yet we all know you read all of them. Why are the
posts that point out your lies, your IRS issues, and your imaginary
possessions off-limits? You call them insults, but as the KING of
insults you should know better. Get your narcissism under control
before you judge others.

You said you bought it "over the holidays" and you think it "Might have
been Cabelas"? That's *another* lie. If you did buy it "over the
holidays" it would have arrive in the last few days. Be a man and stop
the bull****. Get help for your problem. You are a bad liar and it's
obvious to everyone.
