Hello,

Mosins generally have more perceived recoil due to their shorter length-of-pull (LOP).

The tendency is to hold the butt slightly off the shoulder and upon firing, the entire rifle slams backwards against the shoulder.

Snugging it up against your shoulder helps a lot. If you put 1/2" to 1" of recoil pad (whether it be hard rubber, soft rubber, or even a wood extension!) on the rear of the rifle, your body will absorb the recoil and it will feel no worse than the 7.62x51, .30-06, or 8x57mm rifles out there.

Regards,

Josh
