Six of us from this area chartered a boat out of Key West last week
for a 3 day trip to the Dry Tortugas. We caught a bunch of Grouper, Yellow Tail Snapper, and some other fish. Here's a 20 pound grouper caught by yours truly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h9yaihy0fw6euk9/20%20pound%20grouper.jpg?dl=0 Very tasty. |

Looks really fun Wayne! I have a friend in Homestead Fl. who's brother has a 28' Mako. If I can ever make it down there I have an open invite to do a bunch of off shore fishing. Hope to do it sometime. Looks like a blast!

All 6 of us on last week's trip had offshore fishing experience, and most of us are boat owners, but we gladly payed someone who could take us to the right spots and did the work of getting the boat outfitted properly. |

Understood Wayne. The guys boat is a Mako 284C. Which out to do the job unless you snag some monster Marlin. Lol!

Lol! === On the right day you could probably even catch the monster Marlin but what happens after that could be interesting. One unusual experience last week was when one of our guys hooked a good sized grouper and was struggling to get the fish up. After fighting it for about 5 minutes the line suddenly went slack. When he reeled in, all that was left was a huge grouper head on the line. Apparently a large shark had taken the rest in one bite. The same thing can happen with any large fish that you have to fight for a while. |

Sharks would get them before you could get 'em up. |
