Nice price, easy guys to work with, got 'em in a couple days.

Lowes has em.

Good to know. I didn't try them or HD 'cause I figured they wouldn't
have them - or I'd have to buy a hundred at a time.

HD and Lowes are just the opposite. If they have the bolts you want
they only have a few and they are expensive. Locally I go to Ace
Hardware for bolts and screws. You can buy one or a big box, your
choice and they have a far better selection, including stainless and
chrome plated.
Since these stores are a franchise, YMMV
Online McMaster Carr is probably the best outfit with the biggest
selection. Some years ago when I was looking for an unusual metric
bolt, I ended up ordering them from Europe. (12mm x 200mm stainless)

Fastenal is probably the best these days.

I toured a RV factory recently. Fastenal had vending machines at various
locations in the factory, dispensing consumable tools, parts, and
supplies. Fastenal restocked the machines and provided the mfr.with
usage reports including employee information.

I have a fastener company about 4 blocks from my house, they carry a
very wide range of nuts, bolts, screws, and washers. They have
stainless, zinc, iron and some aluminum fasteners from 4-40 to 3/4" and
metric sizes to. Very convenient and, over the years I have bought
enough that if I only need 5 or 10 pieces they just give them to me.
Every couple visits I'll throw coffee money on the counter. They are
nice guys at the counter, always try to solve my fastener problem.

Certainly true if you want to buy a box. We also have Action Bolt
locally here.
Unfortunately in stainless metric, they are not as inclusive.
That is where I go for galvanized dock hardware tho. (1/2"x14 hot
dipped bolts etc) They beat the hell out of Home Depot on price for a
better bolt.

Boltdepot will sell one or a hundred. Their cheapest shipping cost is
about $5 or so, but the guy told me how many bolts I could add and
still be within the minimum. Very cooperative, especially since I'm
such a cheap bugger.

There are plenty of good online guys but you need to amortize that
shipping with a pretty good sized order.
You should have a good bolt place locally but the ones I knew about
were either in Rockville or around Hyattsville towards the beltway.
The same is true of bearing stores. You can get a bearing locally for
$10-15 or you can get them for $3 online plus shipping in quantity. If
you just buy one or 2 the local guy is best but if you are buying 10
or more, go online.
I did that with 6203s because that is the standard bearing in most
pool pumps, well pumps and just about anything with a 17mm shaft
(nominal 5/8") motor.

If I take the truck, it costs me about $7 for a 36 mile round trip,
not counting any wear caused by cold starts. If I take the bike, it
costs about $4 for a 45 mile round trip. (Expensive high test crap.)

I'll be checking Lowe's to see what they carry.

I never spent a lot of time in Virginia but I have to believe you have
an industrial area somewhere closer.

Oh yeah, I've just never looked there. Don't need special bolts and
nuts that often. I've got a great supply of various nuts and bolts for
the Moto Guzzi, having bought several an parted them out. But, I
didn't have the stainless steel ones...which are just for looks
anyway.

Maybe not. Where I used to buy used steel for my projects is mostly new
steel now. They said, most of the old manufacturing and machine shops are
now housing. Not a lot of heavy manufacturing around here anymore. Used
to have a couple bearing supply houses within 5 miles. Now zero.

I can usually get what I need at Lowes, HD or West Marine. For
everything else I've got Ace Hardware, Family Hardware, or Fastenal.
For unusual marine fastenings, Jamestown Distributors is pretty good.

Just be careful where you use stainless. They are pretty soft bolts
and virtually all of them are grade 2 or less..

The four I replaced don't do anything critical. They just hold the
handlebars. The original bolts had rusted and looked cruddy.

What is the black lever with the knob on top just to the left of the
