Harry, I used to shoot a lot! Not so much anymore. One thing, I don't feel like several around here that you need to keep "practiced up" or for the sake of just burning up a lot of brass. Both the ranch rifle and Steyer have scopes. So that takes all the 'practice' out of them.
Granted, with bench rest I'm still good for 250 yards with my V iron-sighted big bores. |

Anymore Greg, I'm sure you're right. I haven't needed to buy any fodder for years, so I'm really not sure any current pricing is. But today I wouldn't think there would be much of a quantity price break for anything over 500.

Harry, my ranch rifle is chambered in .223 and not the mini-30. I've had ak47's and 74's for the 7.62x39. Now I've got SKS's with standard 10 magazines. I got rid of the ak's because the pistol grip and commie clips were cumbersome and always getting caught or hitting on something. At one time you could get crates of military dirty ammo for them by the crate load lower than dirt cheap. Basically 0.5c a shot. I have about 5000 rd's of that too. Ahh..you are prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse! I can only handle a small Zombie attack. -- A vote for any Republican is a vote AGAINST: Social Security, Medicare, Minimum Wage, Fair Pay, Food Stamps, Clean Air and Water, Modest Gun Regulations, Public Schools, Rebuilding Infrastructure and Good Jobs, Women's Rights, Veterans’ Rights, LGBT Rights, and, of course, Your Right to Vote. |

I have a scope on my .22LR AR, but just a red dot on my .223 AR. Sometimes I have a different red dot on my 1892 Win clone, but usually I just shoot through the "iron sights" with my "custom" $10 right-eye closeup reading glasses. |

I guess you don't care about a pension since you planning on working until you die and you get your medical benefits from your wife. I'm a contractor because I don't want to be on anyone's payroll, other than my own. I get my healthcare benefits through my union, not through my wife, although I am considering switching over to Medicare and an optional program, since my monthly outlay probably will be less. What union? Are you a union contractor? The union I've been a dues-paying member of for many decades. Fortunately, my skillset was not made obsolete by IBM, nor did I have to take orders from my quasi-military employer. My skill set has evolved and although IBM is not doing that anymore I could work any time I want to. I just don't want or need to. My aggravation today is a vine that has taken over one of my wife's planting beds. Sadly, it is not a grape vine. Fortunately, my skillset was not made obsolete by IBM, nor did I have to take orders from my quasi-military employer. Sounds like me in a way. I wanted a good job so I started a company and hired myself. I was a contractor for several years too but I was not confused about it. Without an employer (AKA customer, client or whatever) I was just a guy with a business license, sitting at home watching TV. In fact I still have a contract with the state, it was never canceled and it had no end date. They just have not called me in 12 years ;-) They don't need your obsolete Coast Guard-IBM skill set. :) -- A vote for any Republican is a vote AGAINST: Social Security, Medicare, Minimum Wage, Fair Pay, Food Stamps, Clean Air and Water, Modest Gun Regulations, Public Schools, Rebuilding Infrastructure and Good Jobs, Women's Rights, Veterans’ Rights, LGBT Rights, and, of course, Your Right to Vote. |
