I am sure your wife has a name for that kind of delusion. You are one bitter little man tho. Life must have really bitch slapped you around. I do understand your frustration. Poor life choices have pretty much guaranteed that you will die working. And without being able to own real estate in his name. |

Poor life choices have pretty much guaranteed that you will die working. Gosh, I hope so. I'd hate to be as retired as you are and having to fill my life with silly make-work projects. What an empty life you must have if you can't even conceive of anything interesting to do if you don't have an employer lining up your day. I think it is Stockholm syndrome similar to those people released from prison who are unable to deal with an unstructured life outside the wire I don't have "employers." I have four to five clients (the numbers change depending upon the time of year), three of whom are on retainer and the other one to two I do work for on a project basis. In addition to the interesting work I get to do for them (research; write articles, speeches, and position papers; write and help execute marketing plans, maintain and update a couple of websites, et cetera), they several times a year pay my way to interesting locations here and abroad. Next spring, for example, I'll be traveling up to the Seattle area on business, and then up to Alaska for a week's vacation, and there may be another trip in store for me to Geneva. That's in the first half of the year. I find that far more interesting than rebuilding an outdoor bar for the non-drinkers in this household or tearing down and rebuilding a clapped-out truck; clearing brush, maintaining obsolete computers, operating systems and gear, and, of course, interacting with Palmetto bugs. I do, however, like the fact that you can take your dog out on the boat for sandbar and swimming trips. My cats, well, they're cats and they won't do that sort of thing. :( -- A vote for any Republican is a vote AGAINST: Social Security, Medicare, Minimum Wage, Fair Pay, Food Stamps, Clean Air and Water, Modest Gun Regulations, Public Schools, Rebuilding Infrastructure and Good Jobs, Women's Rights, Veterans’ Rights, LGBT Rights, and, of course, Your Right to Vote. |

Back on the original post. That averages out to be approxately .27c a shot. I have bought sales and bargains over the years. Various manufactures and some military surplus. I have approx. 10,000 rounds. Average cost about .11c a piece. Seeing I sold my ARs and the fN, and now have the Steyr and a Ruger ranch rifle, and seeing I don't go "plinking" that cashe' will last me a looooong time. I guess I should have sold off a bunch of it and made a wad. But that's ok...

And if you don't plink, why do you need 10,000 rounds? Rodents? Large roaches? -- A vote for any Republican is a vote AGAINST: Social Security, Medicare, Minimum Wage, Fair Pay, Food Stamps, Clean Air and Water, Modest Gun Regulations, Public Schools, Rebuilding Infrastructure and Good Jobs, Women's Rights, Veterans’ Rights, LGBT Rights, and, of course, Your Right to Vote. |

Harry, the reason I have so much .223 is I couldn't resist bargains. If the going rate is let's say .25c a piece for a box of 500, but you can score 1000 rd's for less than half that price. It makes sense to go for the higher volume. It's not that hard to figure out.

Harry, my ranch rifle is chambered in .223 and not the mini-30. I've had ak47's and 74's for the 7.62x39. Now I've got SKS's with standard 10 magazines. I got rid of the ak's because the pistol grip and commie clips were cumbersome and always getting caught or hitting on something. At one time you could get crates of military dirty ammo for them by the crate load lower than dirt cheap. Basically 0.5c a shot. I have about 5000 rd's of that too.

Greg, I kw your right. I was just considering the base ammo cost. Mine is more accurate pricing that is if you don't include the gas to and the entry fee to the gun show...
