Then you have Crist being guilty of taking bribes to appoint judges
and the fact that 3 of his closest advisers went to jail for
corruption. He also has flip flopped on just about every issue,

He is backed by the biggest ambulance chaser in the state. That is
troubling right there.
The whole medical pot issue is only on the ballot to get more

Scott hasn't seemed to rob anyone lately and he has done a fairly good
job guiding the state through the recovery.

I still wish there was another viable choice.

I voted for the Libertarian and I am letting others pick their

pot voters may do the same.

Crist is a "born again" democrat. He switched parties to independent
because they already had a republican running for senate when that was
his dream and Rubio had crushed him.
If the DNC had come up with a viable candidate for governor, I suppose
he would have run as an independent again.
If he loses this time, I would not be shocked if he tried for the GOP
nomination next time. (Scott is term limited)
Crist still only has one more term coming if he is elected so I am
waiting to see what he chooses next.
This guy is the king of the flip floppers and he will do or say
anything to get your vote.
I wouldn't even be shocked if he came out ... finally
(That rumor has been around Tallahassee for at least 15 years)

Whatever Crist has done wrong in his lifetime doesn't amount to a hill
of beans compared to the criminality of your current governor.

in selective fire.
It would have been a great investment at $800 (1983)

The Models 5805 and 5817 are made of stainless, but I like the
hardwood stock. I just sent a note to Ruger asking if it's possible to
buy the 5805 with the hardwood stock.

I think most politicians in high office have some shady stuff in their
backgrounds. Rick Scott's company was fined about $1.5 billion for
Medicare fraud, and he took the Fifth Amendment 75 times to avoid
incriminating himself during the legal procedures about that fraud. I
suppose that does qualify him for being governor of Florida. We've had a
few crooks as governors of Maryland, of course, but they were pikers
compared to Rick Scott.

Oh, how did Scott avoid indictment? A "deal" was made between his
lawyers, and there was an agreement to pay a huge fine.

Did the selective model also have the skinny barrel of the Mini-14's of
that era? They sure had a rep for being incredibly inaccurate rifles
because of barrel flexing. I suppose when you were considering an auto
version accuracy didn't matter much if you were just spraying out rounds.

The barrel was redesigned in this century and made stiffer, but the
accuracy reviews on the new models are mixed, and there is quite a
market of "accurizing" pieces and parts and gunsmiths who work on the
"minis."

I've fired a couple of Mini-14's and one Mini-30 and was thinking of
buying one until I decided to get an AR-15. I liked the rifle, though I
thought at the time it was heavy at 7 pounds empty. But my AR-15 weighs
7.3 pounds according to my postal scale with a 10-round mag. Maybe the
balance was different.

Which model would you get? I like the look of the traditional
hardwood stocks but I'm sure the synthetics are more durable. For
hunting a 5 round mag seems like plenty and it cuts down the bulk -
not as nasty looking however.

I like the looks of the Model 5801

http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14...eets/5801.html

but I like the stainless on the 5805

http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14...eets/5805.html

I'm probably just old fashioned when it comes to stock material. Not
sure which magazines I'd get. I'd probably use it mostly for target
shooting (unless Tim invited me to come out and go hunting on his
farm).

For target shooting the Remington 700 in .223 is probably a better
choice:
