Fueling the fear are the several screw ups by "systems" and those
supposedly trained to deal with it.

One thing hit home with me, being the luddite I am.

The nurse who first saw Duncan entered his data (including travel
history) into an electronic data base which is then reviewed ...
apparently remotely ... by a physician. For some reason the page of his
travel history didn't display according to hospital reports so he was
sent home with antibiotics (which do nothing for a virus infection).

Then, just an hour or so ago the Texas Lt. Governor was being
interviewed on CNN. The CNN reporter pointed out to him that
information and warnings were being distributed in the community where
Duncan was staying in English and Spanish but most of the people
residing in the community spoke or read neither.

This was news to the Lt. Governor and he promised to look into it as
soon as his interview was over.
