Red tide ia a fairly regular thing here. It is one of the things I
test for every month, although it pretty much never get up the river
where I test.

I live in Panama city and have only seen it once.
It was horrible!
Some may know I have a business on a boat in a marina.
When we had red tide, every morning I would dip one to three coolers of
dead fish from around my boat, to make the area presentable.
The red tide was hard on the eyes and it was not fun to breath. If you
took a deep breath it would make you cough.
I hope I never see it again.
