Default Philosopher Trying Small Boat Design

douglaseagleson.wordpress.com

I am a recreational philosopher that is interested in boat design. I am fairly confident in my ideas for new concepts in boat design. I tried to build a 16 foot skiff while in high school. I liked the design because it had a high free-board for a small motor boat. I was an educational project that was successful. I even motored out into San Fransisco Bay using its lawn mower engine. I bought a low unit from a marina and made a plywood block to mount it on the stern. It did have an issue with proper propeller sizing though.

I recently decided to practice non-profession boat design. I believe I have some good ideas. I am going to use this group as the posting site for my marine communications. It may have junk postings, but it is an enduring newsgroup.

I invented a new multihull beam design that is far superior to the current fly-by-night engineering theory. Boatdesign.net a professional forum did not like my ideas and removed my membership.

The new multihull beam is on my blog. I am a proponent of heavy weight multihulls because they have to be heavy. The sea is that dangerous. The efficiency of the multihull is supposed to be the lack of ballast to cause stability. My beam will make heavy Force 5 storm able multihulls.

I have to design a retirement income so I am available for consulting work. I would like a builder to start using my beam. I charge $25 an hour.

My main presence is going to be rec.boats. The forums look erratic. I also am working on UAV vessels. I have the ability to produce dinghy and kyack cores for robot boats. I use the production philosophy of making ONLY utility finish surfaces. The labor for perfect hull finishes is expensive. I will pass on some of the cost savings to the buyers. In general, I plan to use male molds and if necessary have an autobody shop clean up the surface.

I anybody knows of a good robot vessel forum I would like to get the name.

Sincerely Doug

How's that Whaler knockoff you aren't building coming along?
