Well, not for long...
PHOENIX (AP) — A homeless ex-convict beat a priest with a metal rod in his residence at a Phoenix church then wrestled away a handgun owned by the clergyman before fatally shooting the man's assistant, police said Monday as they announced an arrest in the case. The attack occurred after the Rev. Joseph Terra opened the kitchen door of the Mother of Mercy Mission rectory to investigate noises in a courtyard on Wednesday night, police said. Badly injured, Terra made it to his bedroom and retrieved his ..357-caliber gun but was unable to fire before the attacker grabbed it, forced the priest to his knees and demanded money, according to court records. Terra soon blacked out. When he regained consciousness, the Rev. Kenneth Walker had been shot. He died later that night. Terra, who was able to give Walker last rites after the assault, remained hospitalized on Monday. Suspect Gary Michael Moran, 54, an ex-convict with a history of violence and drug abuse, was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of first-degree murder, burglary, and armed robbery, among other charges. Good guy who probably shouldn't have had a gun. |

What the heck was the priest doing with a gun?
That's almost unbelievable for a Canadian to fathom. |

Blame that on gun ownership, right? Here, something to put a smile on your face.\: Resident halts burglary, Mlive, Michigan, 06/05/14 Mark A. Blehm arrived at his home in Gibson Township, Mich., found one of his screen windows broken into and an ATV outside the house. In response, Blehm retrieved a shotgun, positioned himself on the ATV and yelled to the criminal inside his house. After Blehm fired a shot into the air, the intruder eventually left the house. Police captured the intruder outside Blehm’s home shortly thereafter. (Mlive, Michigan, 06/05/14) |

Don, down here there are deer seasons for hunting with pistols. No caliber less than .38, most preferred is ,357 and .44 mag.

Gosh, I recall reading this: "Badly injured, Terra made it to his bedroom and retrieved his ..357-caliber gun but was unable to fire before the attacker grabbed it, forced the priest to his knees and demanded money, according to court records. " No where does it say anything about hunting. It does say he was badly injured, so badly that he couldn't fire before the attacker grabbed it. I suppose the attacker wouldn't have beat Walker, right? You make up **** as you go, and you're full of it. |

Come on down to the track some day and start talking to guys like that, he would just get steamrolled. Guess it's just different from under a desk. I had to talk to a guy today and it certainly took some diplomacy for sure. He is a 40 something retired GP racer, full ride guy, etc... but he was out there screaming at his kid, his kid was 6. It was driving Jess crazy so I went and talked to him for a while and by the time I left he was encouraging his kid during the moto, and correcting after off track, not screaming at the kid like he was dumb or something. One thing a lot of guys don't understand is the kid is going as fast as he can with the form he has, until he gets the weight in the right place, etc, there will be no "twist it, TWIST IT" no matter how loud you yell...:) Either way, sometimes if you really mean it, and you really want to add something, you gotta' eat a little snot and take the quiet victory... At the end of the day the guy was working in a totally different manner, I heard him tell the kid he was smoother in the last moto, the kid looked over at me and grinned.. He got it, and he was only 6.... Jess is coming back slowly on purpose. We are working more in the gym than on the track. It was pretty cool to have a full ride pro racer look at Jess and say "she is cut like an Olympic Athlete"... in fairness though, that's all her... We may race this weekend, not sure yet though. |
