Oh I do know what a 'true' rail gun is, but My dad described the Colt .45 auto as a term from ww2 if not before that...

universal mount for all sorts of optics, lasers and lights.



OTOH a "rail gun" is a magnetic accelerator that can get something

going real fast (like "launching into space" fast)

I could agree with that but like DI told Bill, the "Rail gun" term was used way before the accessories were even thought of.

I could agree with that but like DI told Bill, the "Rail gun" term was used way before the accessories were even thought of.

I have been around 1911s most of my life, civilian and military. I
never heard it called a rail gun.
Most of the time it was just "45" or "1911"

Did they have a Picattiny rail for mounting accessories?

Greg, I suppose it would be like dedicating "maw-deuce" as being a "chain gun" or a muzzle loader as a "smoke pole"
