That's what I meant. Didn't you just buy a 'hog leg' six shootin' side arm? Why? Surely it wasn't because Custer carried one is it? Btw and all kidding aside, maybe people are attracted to the military 'style' arms is due to they're light weight and 40m accuracy

Yeah, I did: .357 MAG DA six-shooter, stainless steel, 6" barrel, just
like Marshall Dillon and General Custer *didn't* wear.

I like the weight of a *heavy* steel sidearm. And, of course, if you are
fighting off zombies, once you run out of ammo, you can grab the
revolver by the barrel and smack 'em over the head.

This is the "sister" of the one I got:

The grips are ugly, there's no other way to describe them, but they do
fit my hand well, and they seem to absorb the kick from .357 rounds. The
..38 Special rounds feel like .22LRs.

There are a few things I want to have a gunsmith work on, to make the
new revolver more "mine" and less like every other one. One, I think,
will be to have her bead-blasted, to tone down the stainless steel
shine. The other mods are more practical.

I don't get the connection between that rifle you like and actor Matt
Dillon.

Oh, wait...you probably mean Matt Dillon, the lead fictional character
in Gunsmoke.

I thought the marshal wore a Fanner Fifty:

What is the appeal of those pseudo military semi-assault rifles in .223?
Killing mice in the field?

You have established in virtually all subjects, issues, interests,
hobbies and personal possessions that *anything* that you don't agree
with, understand or personally own is not worth consideration by anyone
else on the planet.

You just like to troll and start arguments. I'd suggest there are much
better hobbies for 70 year olds to engage in.

Arguments with him are easily controlled by non-responses.

I've never understood the appeal of those sorts of rifles. I guess it
could be visual, or perhaps it is the idea of carrying around a rifle
that looks as if it might be used by "the military."

Have you ever fired one? I have no interest in owning one but I have
to admit they are fun to shoot at the range.

Just once. I guess I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to the
firearms that appeal to me these days.
