That's what I meant. Didn't you just buy a 'hog leg' six shootin' side

arms is due to they're light weight and 40m accuracy

Yeah, I did: .357 MAG DA six-shooter, stainless steel, 6" barrel, just
like Marshall Dillon and General Custer *didn't* wear.

I like the weight of a *heavy* steel sidearm. And, of course, if you are
fighting off zombies, once you run out of ammo, you can grab the
revolver by the barrel and smack 'em over the head.

This is the "sister" of the one I got:

The grips are ugly, there's no other way to describe them, but they do
fit my hand well, and they seem to absorb the kick from .357 rounds. The
.38 Special rounds feel like .22LRs.

There are a few things I want to have a gunsmith work on, to make the
new revolver more "mine" and less like every other one. One, I think,
will be to have her bead-blasted, to tone down the stainless steel
shine. The other mods are more practical.

You probably already know but there are several sources for custom grips
for that gun to personalize it even more.

Yes, and I've seen some really beautiful wood grips, and they aren't
that expensive. The problem is, the wood grips don't absorb the "shock"
from the .357 rounds all that well. The rubber grips are like a Koni
shock absorber. But I probably will be shooting mostly the .38 Specials,
since they are considerably less expensive, and the kick from those
seems pretty mild in a heavy pistol. I might borrow a set of wood grips
from a buddy and try them on for size.

I'm going to be replacing the front sight with a HiViz. My extraordinary
(ha!) gunsmithing skills are good enough for that.

I don't get the connection between that rifle you like and actor Matt
Dillon.

Oh, wait...you probably mean Matt Dillon, the lead fictional character
in Gunsmoke.

You have established in virtually all subjects, issues, interests,
hobbies and personal possessions that *anything* that you don't agree
with, understand or personally own is not worth consideration by anyone
else on the planet.

You just like to troll and start arguments. I'd suggest there are much
better hobbies for 70 year olds to engage in.

You've reached the wrong conclusion...again.

What? There aren't better hobbies for a 70 year old to engage in other
than trolling on a newsgroup and criticizing everyone else's interests?

I might take your comments a tad more seriously if you also aimed them
at others here as you do at me.

Oh, really? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Your boychicks
can't stop their 7th grade behavior even when I'm out of town for a week

Default Hey John and Gregg...

Harry, we weren't talking about makes and functions when I mentioned Dillon and Custer. Your question was about 'styles' of weapons. You bought a 6 shooter pistol - they carried them too.

And that ammo is more expensive than a current military caliber ammo.

So what? .22LR is half the price or less than of .223, and you can get
1000 bb's for six bucks or so. There's almost always something cheaper.

You should be using that extra cash to pay your taxes and creditors instead of buying expensive ammo.
