Default Good book on small boat racing

I can't seem to find a good book on small sailboat racing. I've checked
amazon and WestMarine, and came up empty. I'm interested in a text on the
practical aspects and fine points of racing sailboats less than 18 feet in
length. Handling, strategy, etc. Name and/or author would be great.
Thanks.

says :

North U Racing Tactics book
The course book, North U Racing Tactics, serves as both a seminar text and
comprehensive reference. Written by Bill Gladstone, the 200
information-packed pages comprise the most complete text on modern racing
tactics. The new sixth edition covers the latest in racing technique -
including the new rules - in a graphically driven format which facilitates
easy recall. This edition also features a chapter on Match Racing by Peter
Isler, and is updated to the current rules, plus a new insights on wind and
windshifts which will change your understanding of both upwind and downwind
performance.

I highly recommend that you subscribe to the Speed & Smarts bi-monthly
newsletter:

http://www.speedandsmarts.com/

You can order back issues (again highly recommended) by issue/title.
You'll find more useful small sailboat racing information in the current
& back issues of this newsletter than you'll find in most any small
sailboat racing book.

Yep...

Used $12.00 USD:
http://www.gibsonbooks.com/si/21840.html

New $20.95 USD (very good to fine condition)
http://www.biblio.com/books/1286508.html

An excellent book, and one well worth owning.

When my son started racing I filled his bookshelves with many sailing
books, but the one that he always goes back to for
reference/tactics/tips (and he is still racing CFJ's, V15's, 29ers) are
the Speed & Smarts. Several years ago for Christmas I ordered every
back issue available along with a current subscription, and put them in
binders so that they are in a single location for reading.

The other book that he highly recommends is:

Winning in one-designs
By: Dave Perry
Publisher: New York : Dodd, Mead, ©1984.
ISBN: 0396081916 : 0396082009
$24.95 USD
http://www.landfallnavigation.com/bsr182.html
Also same price from US Sailing

And another not yet recommended:

High Performance Sailing
by Frank Bethwaite (Paperback - 1996)

Another good source:

Note to OP/Don: check with your local library before shelling out too
much on any recommended books -- the library may have them, or be able
to order them, and provide you with the opportunity to review & read
them before buying.
