And btw, the guy is countersteering as is the guy in the vid above. They are just leaning to put the pressure on the front end but the process is the same. Lean, countersteer, correct.. it's all about balance even though John mocked me about that earlier... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLLbr5-174A Scotty, it's about 'no hands' counter steering, which was presented to you in a Wikipedia article on counter steering two whole days ago. I am thrilled that you've become a believer in the fact of counter steering. Maybe one day it will save your life, or that of someone else. Here, in case you missed it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countersteering LOL!... None of you could answer the question, I gave you all several chances.. It's ok John, lucky for most it's natural and happens on it's own.... Keep on trying, Scotty! So, you are clearly saying when I asked the question.. "If I go in a circle with no hands, what is it called" that: 1) You knew the answer was countersteering. 2) Although you mocked and suggested going in a circle with no hands would put you on the pavement, you actually knew it was in fact possible? Be honest now... this is the second time I have asked this directly, answer, or dodge again... it's up to you. You should continue to go in a circle with no hands. |

It has been answered many, many times. Scott. Anytime you see the front wheel turned radically in the *direction* of the turn ... like the guy riding slowly in circles with no hands ... or one of your pictures of a dirt bike in a slide with the front wheel turned radically in the direction of the slide is *NOT* counter-steering. By definition and simple word association "counter" means "in the opposite" or "against" the norm. |

I don't recall saying going slowly in a circle with no hands will put you on the pavement, although it will if you are not skilled. I know that can be done. There is no gyroscopic precession forces being generated (or not enough to straighten the bike up) at that speed. But again, it's *not* counter steering. It's simply balancing your speed to the angle of the front wheel and maintaining it. Once you accept that fact that you are erroneously using the term "counter-steering" when applying it to steering or turning the front wheel in the direction of the turn, we'll start making some progress in your rehabilitation. |

John has already refused to answer several times, you can't dodge for him here... It's a simple question... 1. It is *not* counter-steering. But wait? You said you can't take a corner without countersteering? 2. I don't recall saying going slowly in a circle with no hands will put you on the pavement, although it will if you are not skilled. It's simply balancing your speed to the angle of the front wheel and maintaining it. Yup, determined that yesterday when I realized it was relative to the gyroscopic plane developed by the rotation.. guess that just went over your head, but you sure do cut and paste well... Once you accept that fact that you are erroneously using the term "counter-steering" when applying it to steering or turning the front wheel in the direction of the turn, we'll start making some progress in your rehabilitation. Again, explained that was simply miscommunication, and just another excuse... like mocking, and giving wrong answers like suggesting you can't take a bike in a circle with no hands. and yes, you and hank were clear about that.... |
