The exercise keeps one warm. I usually take the windbreaker off by the third hole. You should try it. Put on some layered clothing, a vest, a windbreaker, and walk 6 - 7 miles. The balls that the grounds keepers find at my wife's course end up in a barrel at the pro shop, for free. It speeds up play if you get free balls We throw balls in the barrel also. The pro uses them, but he's usually got too many. Our course doesn't have a driving range. The driving range at my wife's place is the lake so they use floaters. If it really rains a lot they have to go out to the street over the fence and rake them out of the storm ditch ;-) Whoops. Hit the button too soon. That is a good idea. We have a pond right close to the clubhouse. If the banks were groomed a bit, it would be very easy to net floaters out of the pond. The drainage is one of those standpipes that drain when the water reaches a certain height, but the openings could be easily covered with a screen to keep the balls from being washed away. What kind of balls do they use? Is there a web site that discusses this for your wife's course? |

If it really rains a lot they have to go out to the street over the fence and rake them out of the storm ditch ;-) Whoops. Hit the button too soon. That is a good idea. We have a pond right close to the clubhouse. If the banks were groomed a bit, it would be very easy to net floaters out of the pond. The drainage is one of those standpipes that drain when the water reaches a certain height, but the openings could be easily covered with a screen to keep the balls from being washed away. What kind of balls do they use? Is there a web site that discusses this for your wife's course? They just say "floater" on them. This is the lake. That fountain gets the hell beat out of it. http://www.hwgcc.com/web/pages/golf Thanks, found 'em. Not expensive either. I'll tell the folks in our course. |

The pres has forwarded it to about 120 folks in the seniors group. Lots of comments...all good. |

If everyone in your group loses a ball every other hole then you will cause a hell of a back up on the course. My father in law was cheap and he was determined to find his lost balls. Beware the golfer with a 25 foot ball retriever. When I played golf, I normally finished with extra balls. When you drive to the edge of the fairway, more likely to happen on extra balls. |

Beware the golfer with a 25 foot ball retriever. Listen to this "you old guys" ****!! All the guys I usually play with are retired military, poor in other words. Only one actually takes out his retriever on certain holes. He doesn't slow the game though. He cleans the balls and donates them to the high schools for their golf teams. |
