Yes, as many as desired, but none of them say, "Harry's MacBook Air",
or have any other reference to
'Harry'.

My task of the moment is getting my wife's Windoze computer to have our
server show up as a shared device or device, like it does on our macs.
So far I haven't figured out which rosetta stone I need to do this.

I did it but don't ask me how. Not on a "server" but I can share files
between the Mac and the Windows laptops via our home network.

Took a while to get it working and I've forgotten all the steps.

I might have found the answer but fiddling around with Windoze gave me a
headache, it's so damned obtuse. I'll try again later. I would have
gotten her a Mac a couple of years ago, but she uses Windoze computers
at work and didn't want to bother learning a new computer. I don't blame
her.

It took me a while but it had to do with setting up the file sharing
settings on the Windows computers. By default they don't allow file
sharing.

Obtuse, yet it gave you a headache trying to figure it out. You need a
nap. Maybe you'll wake up with a clear head.

You can do it wirelessly, ethernet, or through a usb port or possibly
through bluetooth if your stuff is close enough together.*AND* You have
to set up a LAN like Mr Luddite said.

Do you have something specific to suggest? I already know I can connect
wired or wirelessly. USB and bluetooth are not practical because of
distance. But that's not the issue. The issue is getting it to show up
as a shared device. But I may have found the answer, once I get back to
that task. My Mac's found the server as a device right away, without any
additional effort on my part.

Well do it and see if the server shows up on your device list

Look more closely. When I open that report on my Win 7 machine it
says: Hairyzafrigginarsl and goes to a picture of a Federal lockup.

I have the unhappy duty to report to you that you are at the bottom of

As you might have surmised, he's not exactly one of my favorite people
either. He's sort of like Howard Stern in his prime however. The
media analysts uused to interview people about why they listened to
Howard even though they said they couldn't stand him. The answer:
They wanted to see what outrageous thing he'd do next.

I got the Windoze machine "signed up" to access the server properly. The
machine backs itself up to the server and always has, but there were two
other folders on the server I wanted my wife to be able to reach for her
iPods and for vids.

The solution is simple. Put the folders where she can see them.

I always wondered how well Apple acted on a network with Windoze
machines.

I just plug them in and they go here.

As I stated, the Apple machines have no problems finding and displaying
the network and what is attached to the network, which, by the way is
not running on the Apple or Windoze OS. It's the Windoze machine that
was the minor pain to get onto the network.
