Illegal drug use- violating the public trust.

That's our boy.

He was a weasel who beat a far better candidate by spending a ****

load of money.

Like the saying goes. "Modern day politicians aren't elected- They're paid for" or something to that effect.

OTOH if you drug tested congress, you might not be able to get a quorum.

Greg I'd say you're right.

Back in the 70's Carter's Georgia Mafia used to dominate the back of
Clydes in Georgetown and if you went in the mens room you could
usually hear "ding ding ding" as they were chopping up coke on the
stainless steel toilet paper holders in there. They didn't even try to
hide it.

That was a different time tho. The standing orders of the DC cops was
if you saw a guy smoking a joint on the street, you ignored it or
simply made them throw it away. Willie Nelson was sparking up on the
roof of the White House. There was a guy on K street running a head
shop out of a recycled hot dog cart.

I guess they are tougher now.

Sounds like the start of a good drug policy. Plus with tax revenues might
have to borrow less, or print less faux money.

And he keeps getting elected to something. Shows where the minds are.

I doubt it, this was a misdemeanor powder possession bust.
If it was 3.5 grams of crack, he would be looking at hard time.
If it was anyone else, they may not have even pursued the charge.
There was an interesting question asked on CNN today. Were there any
other customers of this dealer "stung"?

I imagine there was a big celebration down at the DEA office when they
came in waving this scalp.

I do think it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy tho.
Maybe they will find a way of recalling the weasel. Give it to Goss.
(the guy who he beat in the primary)
There were certainly more than a few shanigans in that race. I
couldn't vote for him.

A misbehaving U.S. Rep or Sen can be expelled from Congress by a two
thirds vote of the appropriate house. There's nothing in the
constitution that allows a recall of these federal officeholders.
