It is amazing where we have arrived as a nation in a few short years; a
nation sharply divided on just about every issue, subject or front.


White versus black.
Rich versus poor.
Gays versus straights.
Illegals versus legals.
Those with faith versus without.
Liberal versus Conservative.
Liberal versus Progressive.
Ultra Right versus Moderates.
And, of course, old fashioned Democrats versus Republicans.

One can no longer be anywhere near the "center" without becoming subject
to attacks from the right or left. Gone is the option of a "line item"
choosing of the best from each side. One is expected to fully adopt the
ideological preachings of one side or the other or risk being ridiculed,
condemned or determined hypocritical.

It seems like there is no social or economic issue that doesn't evoke
bitter, hate-filled responses from both sides anymore. There's no
thought, no respectful consideration to other points of view, just
automatic, knee jerk reactions, based on preconceived or assumed
positions programed mostly by political affiliations.

What we need is a thoughtful and compassionate community organizer to
convince everyone to get along and help lead the nation out of the
division and hate for one another.
