It is amazing where we have arrived as a nation in a few short years; a
nation sharply divided on just about every issue, subject or front.

White versus black.
Rich versus poor.
Gays versus straights.
Illegals versus legals.
Those with faith versus without.
Liberal versus Conservative.
Liberal versus Progressive.
Ultra Right versus Moderates.
And, of course, old fashioned Democrats versus Republicans.

One can no longer be anywhere near the "center" without becoming subject
to attacks from the right or left. Gone is the option of a "line item"
choosing of the best from each side. One is expected to fully adopt the
ideological preachings of one side or the other or risk being ridiculed,
condemned or determined hypocritical.

It seems like there is no social or economic issue that doesn't evoke
bitter, hate-filled responses from both sides anymore. There's no
thought, no respectful consideration to other points of view, just
automatic, knee jerk reactions, based on preconceived or assumed
positions programed mostly by political affiliations.

What we need is a thoughtful and compassionate community organizer to
convince everyone to get along and help lead the nation out of the
division and hate for one another.

I thought 'Progressives' were 'Liberals' who wanted a different name. Have I been wrong all this
time?

One of my brothers, a liberal, is also an atheist. When I used the phrase 'liberal atheist', he
informed me that he referred to himself as a 'secular progressive'. When I asked why, he got ****ed.

We have a President who began his term telling Republicans that he'd won, and they should therefore
do as he desired...without interference. This didn't sit well. He's never changed that attitude.

We have a black President who could have worked at increasing racial harmony in this country.
Instead he's worsened the situation with comments like 'he could have been my son', and not taking
the Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton point of view any time he had the chance.

When you look at the posters here, you see several who respond to *any* suggestion/criticism with
name-calling and derogatory remarks.

Damn shame. But Bobby, a flaming liberal, and I get along great. Play golf together at least once a
week. I just had his .45 repaired by a local gunsmith. He has a S&W Model 4516-1, stainless steel.
Nice gun.
