Curious. Given the high cost of health care and the resulting high cost
of health insurance by private underwriters, what is it about a single
payer system that you don't like?

A single payer system could provide basic, affordable health care for
everyone. If you want "extra" care for things it doesn't cover, you
could buy a private, supplemental policy.

If a single payer system wouldn't increase the size of the government, and if laws were passed to
discourage frivolous lawsuits, and if supplemental policies didn't cost as much as a full-coverage
policy now, then, maybe, I could go along with a single payer system. Right now when I think 'single
payer', I think more welfare, bigger government, just as many frivolous lawsuits, and more votes for
liberals.

I suspect that for many "more votes for liberals" is the biggest
opposition to any kind of genuine health care reform ... unless of
course a Republican thinks of it first.

This country is shooting itself in the foot for the sake of politics.

I get a chuckle out of the that would mean "more votes for liberals"
arguments. I don't believe liberals have to do any recruiting with the
conservatives ****ing off one group after another. The recent Republican
shenanigans over cuts to the SNAP program apparently pushed 900,000 off
of food stamps, Lindsay "the whore" Graham is pushing for a national
abortion law, and the intellectual leader of the GOP, Rick Perry,
doesn't think Chris Christie is conservative enough.
