Property taxes here are all paid in one nut. They are not horrible tho. California we get split payment. Taxes can be bad. Taxes are a little more than 1% of fair market value on any house bought after 1979. Before that houses were taxed at what ever the county said the house was worth and what ever percentage the county decided. Basis for our Prop. 13. Rate is actually a little higher as special districts add to the tax. So a $900k house will be from $2500 to $10,000 a year. My the value of the house for tax. Purposes can be raised 2% a year. Here county valuation was actually going up while housing prices were going down! My taxes actually went down 2005 to 2009 and I added a room. I am still $100 less than I was in 2005 I am sure they will catch up tho. Oh, I'm sure they will! |

Different house. the house I paid $25000 for in 1969 and had a tax burden of $240, had a tax bill for $1900 9 years later. The county bragged about lowering the tax rate. Went from $14.01 a hundred to $13.99 a hundred. They taxed you on 25% of the assesed valuation. Lower the tax rate 2 cents and raised the average county wide valuation 15%. Sort of like the Federal government now. Except not living within your means, just said take all the money we could ever want to spend from the taxpayers. In 2005 I paid $1649.30 This year it is $1,598.52 so it is really about $50 less. Considering I added another room bumped out the screen cage and added a carport since then that is not bad. Because they lowered the tax rate, or the value of your house went down? |

I pay mine in full and take a discount. Your buddy Krause has a problem paying taxes. Fortunately for him, his "wife" pays the RE taxes on her house so he can continue to play his juvinile games on Usenet in the basement. |
