I tow with a 3/4 ton truck, and it has little problem stopping even with no trailer brakes on a 4500# trailer. Lost fluid due to a connector leak. Took longer than normal, but the truck has huge brake assemblies. |

Minimum insurance if any at all. Will not even cover most new car replacement for someone, or the medical costs. Minimum liability in California is only $35K. My truck in 2004 was $48K and the wife's Venza was $36K. You do not have enough extra assets to probably even sue for. My complaint on the Tort system is the disparity in the amount someone can collect for the same damage. I run into and cripple someone, they can get about $2.5 million from my insurance alone. $2 million umbrella policy. You do the same damage to someone, they get $35k insurance, and what little assets you have. |

I just want people to be able to stop their trailers when traffic stops! I would hate to be hit by some idiot without enough brakes on the trailer or tow vehicle. I see these tow ratings of 5000# or so one a lightweight, underpowered tow vehicle. My S10 Blazer had that 5000# rating. It barely stopped itself! Donnie has convinced himself that his car will stop an extra 2000 lb or so without the benefit of trailer brakes. I sure hope he's right for his wife's sake and the sake of those he shares the highway with. I personally don't care if his boat decides to come through hie rear window. Some folks are bent on getting their education from the school of hard knocks. Yeah, but if some idiot like that hits you and hurts your family what are you going to do? The loan company will add an expensive policy to the loan if you do not show insurance. Does nada for any liability. I'd thought about getting a Z4 to take back and forth to the golf course, rather than that big truck. Seems like I'd save a lot on fuel. I thought of getting a small car to run around town in, but insurance and depreciation and license, make it cost ineffective, Actually, I was kidding about the Z4. Cute, but a little costly for trips to the golf course. If I could pick up a cheap Corolla or Civic, in the $1200 range, I'd consider it. Wouldn't worry about depreciation and just carry liability. It would have to be in good enough shape to last another ten years. -- John H. Hope you're having a great day! |

I like the ones they put a new engine and brakes, etc... but leave the car looking pretty much stock on the outside.... Just for my every day driver...
