Hey John!
Are you close enough to Wallops to see launches? There's one tonight at 11:27pm for a mission to put a probe into orbit around the moon.

It's actually tonight, 9/6. If it was a clear night you'd be able to see the exhaust plume rising in the sky. We could see Cape Canaveral shuttle launches from Hilton Head, SC but you had to know where to look. |

The last time I was at Wallops when we got off the bus they pointed us to the the duce and a halfs and said pick up your sheelter half, sleeping bag and MRES for your next 6 meals. The worst thing of the trip was when the bus took a right turn in Salisbury and didn't take us to the Ocean City. |

If you are interested in satellites, you might check out this sight. http://www.heavens-above.com/ You put in your long and lat, then click on the satellite you want to view, it gives times, direction, brightness, etc and a sky map. You need to register, but once it is setup, it's easy. I once saw the ISS* and the space shuttle shortly after they separated, just a couple fingers apart. Mikek * International Space Station |
