Default September is coho salmon season in the Pacific Northwest

Great fishing, fantastic eating. Salmon fishing has been much better this year. Some speculate that it's because so much of the Japanese fishing fleet was knocked out during the earthquake and tsunami, but for whatever reason people are catching more salmon than in recent memory.
