Do you have any REAL news sources for this?

Already been posted. The Register has run at least two articles on the
assault and scooter theft.

Whether it was over Trayvon or just five or six thugs out for a walk,
what difference does it make? (as Hillary would say)
The real question is whether anyone will actually be charged. Probably
not. You probably think this guy did not have the right to self
defense either.

What the scooter guy didn't have was common sense. The area where he was
assaulted was "iffy" 50 years ago, when I walked along that part of
Goffe Street on occasion from my high school to downtown New Haven. I
doubt if it has become "gentrified." If I were testing a scooter from a
shop on Whalley Avenue, as he was, I would have stayed on Whalley or
taken a cut through street to another part of town.

When I visit New Haven, there are certain areas I avoid, as there are
certain areas in many cities I would avoid.

In your part of the country, of course, the worry is running into the
Deliverance boys, eh?

=======

If the police were doing there job they would send some plain clothes
cops down these streets once in a while (armed and with adequate
backup of course). I don't believe in letting criminals rule the
streets.

There are at least three city police stations within a few blocks of
that area, and a Yale police substation nearby, and I'm sure the entire
area is well-patrolled. But that doesn't mean every part of every area
of the city has a police officer on the spot every minute of the day.

What most cities need in their densely populated or commercial areas are
more police officers *in uniform* and on foot.

It's too bad you feel that way, because there's very little of interest
down your way, aside from the waterways and beaches.

That's bull****. One of my closest friends in New Haven is well up in
the police command structure and we talk about crime in the area all the
time. The New Haven police patrol everywhere.

Unlike Zimmerman, they do as they are instructed. They don't get out
of the patrol car.

Some do but not enough.
