Yeah, the grocery stores up here are still all about keeping you walking around as long as possible. I have seen one on the far side of the state that advertized bread, milk, ice etc... "all at front of store" but none around here.. Grocery stores around here put the dairy at the furthest point from the door, and the deli/bread, exactly opposite in the other rear corner... A chain called Price Chopper is the worst, Isles are more like moving around on a chess board, you just can't go from one side of the store to the other or front to back without several turns and detours, not even across the back or front of the store... |

For business my threshold whether to fly or drive is if I can drive it in five hours or less. Can't hardly fly ANYWHERE in less time than that. Around here, decent hot "fast" food and freshly packed sandwiches, salads and fruit are available from a chain operation called WaWa. Big, clean, well-lit stores with lots of employees, good gasoline prices, nice food. They're putting local 7-11's out of business. I saw a poster in a store recently that indicated the chain was planning to open several stores in central Florida. Around these parts, we have Quick Trip, or QT for short. What it does around here is take five self registers in place of five regular registers, and eliminates four of the cashiers leaving one to go from self serve to self serve cause each and every order seems to need some kind of cashier interaction.... |
