Drove a BIG F150 last night... hated it. I mean, it has everything I
need but I just don't like driving that huge monstrosity... Think I would get over it soon enough? |

Have your wife decide what you want to have for a family trailer first. Then you decide which 250 or 350 setup is the appropriate haul vehicle. How about a combo horse trailer/camper? |

For now, the big trailer is still a pipe dream, at least a year or two down the road so I am thinking a vehicle for now, our trailer (loaded to the gills) is 3000 pounds bikes and all... The Dakota gets one mile less per gallon than the jeep and it has the 4.7 v8 so probably better mileage than the jeep with the trailer we run now is my thinking. I can suck 20-21 mpg out of the Jeep (rated 21 hwy) but as soon as I put a trailer on, right down to 15-16.. I am thinking the Dakota might do better than that with the trailer because of the V8.. |

I had to let the guy back it back in after the test drive cause I couldn't find the button for the mirror:) This one had the 5.4Triton engine, it did have some balls... But again, the smaller Dakota with the 4.7 seemed to actually have better acceleration... with no load. |

The mileage you get with any tow vehicle is affected in a big way by the air resistance of the front of the trailer when trucking down the highway. People often don't think about that. They aren't exactly designed to be aerodynamic. |

They aren't exactly designed to be aerodynamic. I am not sure how much it actually helps but my trailer is a "V" nose... With the Jeep it may be insignificant because of the height of the Jeep itself, especially since it has a big aftermarket roof rack too... The V might help some with a Pickup truck, but then again it may not at all... but you are correct, there is just a lot of drag with any trailer. |

First time for me with the Highlander and it's great for close in work..such as lining up ball to trailer coupler. Not in my price range... But I really don't need one, like I said before, I can back 'em up. I hook up my Jeep by myself all the time. I pull within a foot or two of the ball and jump out. Then I do a visual of how far I need to come like 11 inches, 14 inches whatever (point A to point B)... Then I get in the truck (leaving the door open) and look at the lowest corner of the door and the point it covers on the ground. Then look at a point exactly the distance behind that point as the distance from "point A to B" and focus on that point. Then I back my truck till the corner of the door is at that point, jump out and hook it up. I usually get within a half inch or so and the hitch drops right on for me... Of course when you jump out you note if you need to make a left or right correction too. |

He had a pickup truck, but bought a brand new 1969 SS 396 Chevelle, last year of the shaker hood. He put it in the garage, covered up, every couple of weeks, take it out, run it maybe 15 miles, bring her back, wash it, wax it put it back. Last I knew, he still had it, about 8 years ago, with 15k on the odometer. |

The newer Mustangs, at least the "GT" models, are great for short people with well-padded butts. They ride very hard. The "regular" non-GT Mustangs are very popular down here in Southern Maryland with high school girls and recent grads. Yellow is a favorite color of the girly girl set. Nice looking cars, though. |

My grandfather, my mother's father, had a 1939 two door Ford that I think looked exactly like this: http://tinyurl.com/ot6eoal He had that car until 1950, when he got a Plymouth that looked like this: http://tinyurl.com/q52e7ax Pretty much the color I remember, too. He was an awful driver, scared everyone to death who rode in those cars with him. He referred to his cars as a "motor." Not a car, not an auto, but a "motor." I don't know how that started with him. |

The little freak doesn't trailer a boat. He trailers motorbikes and someday maybe his single wide to West Virginia, where he'd be at home. Guns and death are just as close to boats and boating as this crap. You *could* knock off your **** and join the club. The atmosphere's fine until this starts. BTW, did you buy a gun for your boat? I might could make you a good deal on a Sig Sauer P250 in 9mm. John H. Maybe you could regail us with another motorcyle tale. They float and run across the water, don't they? My hatred of guns and Walmart are just as important as your motorcycle tales or Snotty's tales of girl moto clubs. No one wants to hear the bad news of guns deaths but they love their little tools and the big bad government is coming to get them. While our congressman bend over and let the NRA shove their little tools up their rectums so we can't have common sense legislation passed. And you're among the fools who support them. |

However, the only place it could perhaps "kill" some Porsches was at a drag strip. A Porsche isn't made to just go fast in a straight line, it can turn and stop, too. Put one of each on a road race track, and the poor Lightning would be lapped in no time. |

Finest engineered car I've ever driven, and I've had a few. |

My guess is that Ford truck will be a mite uncontrollable at over 100 mph and get progressively worse. |

My guess is that Ford truck will be a mite uncontrollable at over 100 mph and get progressively worse. --------------------------------------------- I imagine that the Lightning is (was) a lot of fun to drive and being supercharged, it is (was) fast. But to describe it as a "Porsche eater" is a bit of a stretch. I was hung up on BMWs for a while and between Mrs.E. and I, we had 6 of them, including two of the 500 hp M5 models. But BMW became too dependent on computer controlled operation with flakey software. The two M5s I had were in the shop for software updates and modifications on a regular basis. The second one was supposed to be "bug free", but unfortunately that wasn't the case. They were fast cars and handled decently ... top end was actually a bit higher than the Porsche .... but who the hell is going to drive 215 mph? I finally got tired of all the software glitches and got the Porsche 911 TT instead. No goofy electronics. No software controls. Just a 450 hp twin turbocharged engine that drove the wheels through a 6 speed manual transmission. It was all wheel drive, so it didn't suffer from having the rear end of the car come around to the front like the older ones sometimes did when accelerating in a turn. It was a rocket. Sweet spot began at 3000 rpm. Nail it there in any gear (but especially 2nd or 3rd) and it would just accelerate at a mind blowing pace .... and it didn't stop until you chickened out and let up on the throttle. No "running out of air" or "valve float" or any nonsense like that. Just pure acceleration. But the best part was that it felt just as much like a high performance sports car at 30-40 mph on winding roads as it did at over 125 mph (which I only did once). Car always felt like it was on a set of rails and never felt unsafe. |
