There's a huge difference, Harry.

There's a difference between the allegedly radical Muslim extremists who
set off the bombs in Boston and the radical christian extremists who
blow up abortion clinics and shoot abortion doctors?

You look at extremism in a different way than I. There's wacko's and
perverts out there, no doubt. But to me, that's not 'christian
extremism.'

But the same is true of Muslims, but to listen to the right wingers
here, you'd not know that.

Thanks for the response to half of my post, here's the rest that you
omitted...

"A Christian 'extremist' is one that practices of the Savior, if not
the basis of Judao-Christian theology, "Love thy neighbor as thyself".
And that doesn't mean to do evil in Christs name..

I don't know that much about Islam to be judgmental but i have
noticed that the Sunni's and the Shiite's tend to enjoy blowing each
other up in a rather repeated fashion. "

Are you saying you have to be "an extremist" to follow the teachings of
Jesus?

Why all the spin, Harry?

I really am thinking that your believe is that because Hitler and
Stalin were Christians after al, in their youth they were both
choirboys and each had considered entering the priesthood in their
holy churches.

So therefore, their actions in the first half of the past century
were the product of a solid Christian upbringing.

I really do believe you think that. And if that really is the case,
then maybe you shouldn't go hanging around the Greek Orthodox church
when they have their cooking fair.

People might confuse you as being a christian....

That doesn't address my question. You stated in fairly clear language
that ""A Christian 'extremist' is one that practices (the teachings?)
of the Savior, if not the basis of Judao-Christian theology, "Love thy
neighbor as thyself". And that doesn't mean to do evil in Christs name.."

I'm simply wondering why you label following the teachings of your
saviour "extreme."

To me, a christian extremist is someone who claims to be a christian and
yet engages in blowing up abortion clinics, killing doctors,
proselytizing among uneducated indigenous populations, forcing his/her
religious beliefs on those who believe differently or not at all, pushes
"creationism" as reality, or engages in religiously based war.

That's pretty much the same sort of behavior engaged in by muslim
extremists.

You tell me. No you have told me your views. I've told you mine and
they obviously differ.

I know a number of priests and nuns who seem to follow the teachings of
their saviour and don't seem extreme in any way.

What they have figured out about Boston, so far, is that the brothers
were acting according to THEIR religious views, not the religious views
of others. This happens in Christianity as well. Take a look at the
Westboro people.

You said he "certainly looks the part of a Jihadist". What does a
Jihadist look like?

Hey Kevin, does he look like a jihadist to you yet?

He says he is a jihadist.

Ask Kevin, but if you are asking me, you have totally missed the point.
SO, all jihadists look like this guy? I asked, what does a Jihadist look
like?

You still miss the idea of metaphor don't you?
"Look" in this case is the overall impression, based on everything I
have seen and read. I understand these guys were wannabe jihadists,
compared to Bin Laden but there are still 4 dead Americans and almost
200 injured.
Before this is over they may have cost the US close to a billion
dollars for an investment of a few hundred dollars.
The media, again, rewards these killers far more than their evil deeds
deserve. We make ourselves a very attractive target for terror.
Terrorists know the US media is a force multiplier, blowing any attack
far out of proportion to what the real effect was.

While all of that about the media is true, you STILL haven't told me
what exactly does a Jihadist "look like"?

It looks like "refugees" from the Caccuss region.

It looks like young men from Arabia.

It looks like disaffected Muslims from around the world.

Gee, just about everybody, then eh?

Muslims, like christians, come in every flavor of skin color, so, as you
point out, they look "just like everybody."

I'm not sure where "Caccuss" is, though. Maybe he means "Caucasus."
That's an interesting part of the world, with dozens and dozens of
ethnic groups and many languages. The majority of the population,
though, is not muslim...it is eastern orthodox christian.
