It looks like we are doing Oregon next. Have you seen the sites in southern Utah yet? We were up here a ways on the Arizona New Mexico trip. Bryce Canyon and Zion Two of the best. Our next big, i.e., longer than a week or so, will probably be to Yellowstone and Grand Teton, with sightseeing in between. Maybe next year. This year's getting booked pretty solid. Salmonbait -- Hope you're having a spectacular day! It must be a real drag pulling that luxurious 5th wheel all over the countryside and seeing all those marvelous sites while enjoying all the creature comforts and not having to deal with suitcases. Ever think of sandwiching yourself into an airplane between two fat smelly people and doing a flyover instead? Been there, done that, it sucks! My wife is the navigator. She's got the little ipad or pod or whatever the hell it is that connects to the internet while we're traveling. She also bought a book called, "Next Exit" which is a great source of info while traveling on the interstates. The trailer we bought is nice in that everything can be used without using the slideouts. That was one of the main criteria in choosing it. Many of the floor pans don't allow access to refer's, stoves, sinks, couches, etc. when the slides are in. That means 'setting up' to spend the night somewhere. We can pull in to a 'Flying J' and spend the night with all the comforts - and it's free! Salmonbait -- 'Name-calling'...the liberals' last resort. I was in Chicago for a few days last week. It's about 750 miles from here and is at least a 12 hour drive through Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana, along routes best "flown over." Blech. Took a jet, had aisle seat both ways. Hour and a half flight each way. Plus an hour arrival early at the airport. No luggage wait, since I used a carry-on bag. Got a meeting coming up in Seattle later this year. 2800 miles. At least two days worth of driving if you don't stop for very long. No thanks. To each his own. |
