Threaten to post photos.

Should be worth at least a buck from Tim. :)

Actually my computer was built in about 2003 and is loaded with

windows 2000 and my monitor is a Compaq FS740

No, there's nothing really 'modern' about it. it doesn't even have a

cd burner in it. But it's good enough for what I do with it.

Somewhere around here I still have a laptop that has AOL 3.0 on it

from the early 90's.

One thing about ancient monitors is that if it gives me any problems,

I go to the local pawnshop and get another for about $5.00 and I'm

good to go, again.

But I did move into the 21st century a bit. I splurged and got a new

printer/scanner. a HP "Officejet J4540 All-in-one"

Good for you... a year and a half ago I purchased an HP Officejet 6500A and the thing works great. Only trouble..i don't print enough and the large ink cartridges are coming up to their 'best before' date.

Make sure you stop using them before the expire date. Or else.

Just buy the under $100 printers and when the cartridges run out of ink
just buy a new printer.

That's a great idea... fill the landfills with the old ones.

The problem is, a "new printer" cartridge is less than half full.
Jet printers are made to sell ink and they only start you out with
enough to tease you.

If you really do much printing, get a laser.

Or refill your own.

Pretty good low volume laser printers are available these days for about
$100, and, compared to inkjet printers, you can get a lot more copies
out of a laser cartridge. Plus, there are plenty of third-party
suppliers of good quality refilled laser cartridges. I still think that
for print quality of text on paper, laser printers are the best.
