I think there's more to it than just learning how to put holes in paper. *It seem obvious that some these days have no respect for life. *That's a lesson that gets taught at an early age, in my case partially by hunting with dad. *You learn that, by pointing and pulling the trigger at some living animal, it dies. *The first time I killed a deer it was exciting but also sobering, especially when helping to skin it and cut it up. *It's not as clean, neat, or fun as movies and video games make it appear. *Gives you some perspective. It helped me understand that a gun is a tool for hunting and self, or home, defense. *It's not for conflict resolution, or to be used in anger. *And I still enjoyed the venison. agreed! |

Really Harry, must you consistently interject like that? The rifle team would be an extra curricular sport. South Carolina public schools are well below average in the matters that matter. The state shouldn't be wasting its meager educational abilities resources on right-wing gun shootin' silliness when achievement in reading, writing and arithmetic is so wanting. "right wing?" Is all sports "right wing" as well? You're interjecting again, Harry Calling for gun-shooting classes in the public schools as the proponent of the proposed South Carolina law is doing is a "right wing" wet dream, Tim. I doubt you'd hear many "left wing" pols calling for gun shooting classes in the public schools. Sports itself is not a right-wing or left-wing thing, I would surmise. But spending money on sports activities in K-12 public schools where academic teaching is so lacking seems silly. |
