The family that keeps on giving...
....us laughs.
It's those "family values" Republicans again: Sarah Palin's son, Track Palin, isn't the only member of the family who is calling it quits on his marriage. According to TMZ, her sister-in-law Wendy separated from husband James Palin in July after 12 years of marriage. James and Todd Palin -- Sarah Palin's husband -- are brothers. The estranged pair is now in the midst of resolving a custody dispute over their 10-year-old daughter. Earlier this month, Track Palin filed for divorce from his high school sweetheart, Britta Hanson, after less than two years of marriage. The former couple has already decided how to split their property and custody of their 1-year-old daughter. Track will keep his gun collection and a $30,000 bank account, while Hanson will walk away with her jewelry collection and a $2,500 bank account. - - - Most dysfunctional family ever: the Palins. |

Of course now if some people went nuts and took Zimmerman out and shot him, I'd guess that would be terrible eh? Why? Because you, like other right wing crazies have already established in your minds that it's all Martin's fault. Nobody has produced any evidence that Zimmerman was a vigilante. In fact the number of times he called in the police seems to prove the opposite. On the other hand, the fight the Martin people are putting up to prevent disclosure of his school disciplinary records and perhaps police records seem to imply that there is something there. I suspect he was more than just a vandal and druggie (established). The burglary tool and the jewelry seems to imply thief if nothing else. Zimmerman was probably right that he was casing cars. We still have no evidence about who started the confrontation but we know Zimmerman was on the ground with a broken nose and injury to the back of his head before he defended himself. I still bet he walks but O'mara is doing his best to bill out every dime of that defense fund. He's a punk who should have listened to the cops and let them deal with it. The outcome could have been very different. Cops have tasers and bean bag shotguns. The wannabe cop had his gun and a temper. |

If you believe Zimmerman, he was walking back to his truck when confronted by Martin. It is up to the state to prove that is wrong. Obviously he did not go for his gun right away or he would not have a broken nose and head injuries. I am surprised at his discipline in that he only fired one shot. The cops in that kind of situation do a magazine dump spraying the neighborhood. That certainly bodes well for stationing cops at schools or, even worse, those with even less firearms training than cops. |

I like to think I wouldn't either but 17 year old boys sometimes take that option away from you. Well, we have kids of all ages, including high school kids, in our immediate area. We have white kids, black kids, oriental kids, and latino kids in our little area, and they all have lots of friends, so I am used to seeing all manner of kids just about every day around here, especially after school. In fact, there are "pickup" softball or football or soccer games most afternoons in decent weather on a big empty lot not far from our house. I've also "hired" the older high school boys to do miscellaneous yard chores for us. I doubt the Martin kid and I would have exchanged anything more than a nod or a hello. A kid carrying a soft drink and a snack wouldn't get a second glance from me. |
