"Wonder how he'll feel when we're furnishing him with three hots and a
cot for the rest of his miserable life."

He probably couldn't care less.

The man is a cold-blooded murderer. Like all gun nuts he has just been
sitting there waiting all these years to kill somebody. I hope he rots
in solitary for the rest of his miserable life.

Where were the police when they youths were breaking into his house?

He did not want the police. He wanted to kill someone. The bodies lay
there for at least a day before he mentioned it to a neighbor and
suggested the police be called.

If the police were "protecting and serving" then he wouldn't have to
worry about intruders carrying weapons who want to steal from him.

If they youths did not commit crimes against the home owner then the
home owner would not have needed to kill them.

That's not the way that I read the story. If my memory is correct,
the kids broke a window to get into the house, and the sound of
breaking glass woke him up. One of them started to come down the
stairs into the room where he was. Being concerned that they were
armed, he shot first, several times. Where he went wrong was
delivering a final shot at close range after the original threat no
longer existed. He lives in a so called "Castle" state where shooting
an intruder in your home is permitted if you feel threatened. You are
not permitted to fire "execution" shots however, and of course the
police should have been notified immediately. It's quite likely that
he suffers from some sort of mental impairment.

Then, there is the idiocy of trying to protect oneself with a .22
caliber gun. At issue, too, is firing multiple shots at a torso; a
torso of a young girl that likely posed no physical threat and was
apparently not armed. It is also troubling that the second intruder
descended the steps after hearing shots. That suggests a bizarre
mental state of that intruder.

It really muddies the issue when it takes multiple shots to subdue an
intruder.

Of course, you are correct about the fatal shots. The shooter went
from lawfully protecting his property to illegally assuming the
position of judge, jury, and executioner.

I thought the 22 was the weapon of choice for many professional hit persons

They are counting on a close range head shot, not really applicable to
home defense. In an emergency of course, you shoot what you have.

No. The news story, in the NY Times and elsewhere, is based on what the
police said, such as the man did not report to the police on the day of
the intrusion and murders because he did not want to disturb the cops'
holiday. Seems to me he has pretty much convicted himself unless the
papers are making it all up.

The real issue here is due process. If this guy actually gets

--------------------

No he doesn't and you know you exaggerated. He figures you can protect your
self against a home invasion. Which is what these two did. The guy went
overboard in the shooting department, but he still had a right to shoot
them. And some you may want to execute, so when they get out of jail, or
while awaiting trial his friends decide to make it impossible for you to
testify. Which is a big problem with gang affiliated bandits. Sort of like
the B movie it Charles Bronson. Forget the name. As to home invasion being
dangerous.

this guy without a word of testimony, a hearing or a trial, based on a
news story. I think that is what we call a lynch mob isn't it?

No. The news story, in the NY Times and elsewhere, is based on what the
police said, such as the man did not report to the police on the day of
the intrusion and murders because he did not want to disturb the cops'
holiday. Seems to me he has pretty much convicted himself unless the
papers are making it all up.

Fretwell thinks everyone has the right to shoot anyone he or she finds
offensive.

Krause thinks taxes are optional.

Optional for him and mandatory for others.

This guy might do some time. And that's a very slim 'might' knowing
who he is and where he's from.

Er... Forget something, Senator?

So I thought I'd do a bit of a follow up on this incident, and sure enough. Not much happened. Not much at all...
